Career Guidance & Placement Cell (CGPC)

 

Department of Library and Information Science is actively collaborating with the Placement Cell of the Panjab University. This initiative seeks cooperation of each and every student of the department to make the plan a success.

Objectives

Being a professional course, Career Counselling & Guidance (CC&G) is an integral part of the LIS Curriculum offered by the department. Right from the initial orientation programme, till the end of the programme, the students are given appropriate inputs for sound career building & strengthening of their professional skills. This approach of constant sensitization is the regular feature also embedded in the classroom teaching. Specific measures taken for CC&G include:

1. Making them aware regarding the technology & techniques and best practice being adopted by the libraries.
2. How they can sharpen their skills with appropriate guidance by the faculty members.
3. Sensitizing the students regarding soft-skills including effective CV making & interview preparation.
4. Guiding them in preparing for various competitive exam including UGC-NET.
5. Using social media platform to circulate employment opportunities to fulfill the students's job requirements.
6. Correlating curriculum topics with recent & emerging trends & inspiring them to acquire necessary skills.
7. Utilizing open course ware (OCW) & other online learning platform for getting certification.
